Who played bass on George Michael's "Cowboys and Angels"?
I cannot find anywhere who played bass on George Michael's "Cowboys and Angels". It's one of the best bass lines ever and I am curious who it was.
I'm not sure how accurate the liner notes to George Michael albums are, but the only credited bassist on the studio album that contains "Cowboys And Angels", Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1, is Deon Estus. It appears that Estus had been playing bass for Michael since his days with Wham!, and Michael even helped produce Estus's solo album, Spell, which was released about a year before Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1.
Using your answer I searched a bit further. I seems that the introduction was played by Deon Estus. The song itself was played by George himself.
The 'sound' of the intro is indeed different from the rest. I never knew George was a fantastic bass player!
